Samsung, Galaxy, Note 9
Samsung's Galaxy Note range has proven popular among buyers looking for the extra functionality and applications that their extra-large screens and stylus-driven interfaces can provide.

Now, new reports are emerging that the next iteration of the phablet – the Galaxy Note 9 – is set to make its debut in the coming months, with a rumoured New York unveiling event scheduled for August 9th.

Should this prove true, this would mean the latest Galaxy Note is launching earlier in the year than its predecessors – for example, last year's model, the Galaxy Note 8, was unveiled on August 23rd 2017. However, given that a report from The Investor has indicated that a prototype of the Note 9 was already being shown around during the first quarter of the year, it would appear that Samsung is ready to move up its schedule for 2018.

Analysts are theorising that this earlier release date is designed to give the Note 9 more time to impress consumers before the hype cycle for the next iPhones gears up. This may be especially important given that most are predicting that this year's Samsung model will be more of an iterative upgrade than a true design revolution.

Boasting a 6.3-inch screen, the Note 9 is expected to include an enhanced version of the Bixby virtual assistant software and an improved dual-lens camera that may offer HDR recording capabilities for the first time.

Once again, the device will be optimised to make maximum use of the S Pen stylus interface, while a 4,000mAh battery has been rumoured. Another report from the insider known as Ice Universe has also suggested that a variant with 512 GB will be released, but also that this may be limited to certain Asian markets.

If the August 9th unveiling rumour is to be believed, then fans will not have to wait too much longer to find out the truth about what Samsung has in store for the Galaxy Note 9.
